In the mental health and addictions sector, quality improvement (QI) isn’t a nice-to-have — it’s a strategic necessity. The people we serve deserve care that is safe, timely, effective, equitable, and rooted in what matters most to them. We also need to use our public resources wisely. QI gives leaders the tools to move beyond compliance, tackle systematic gaps, and build services that are evidence-informed, client-centered and use resources efficiently. Quality improvement is necessary for accreditation and can help organizations meet their funding and accountability targets.
